Getting Started

and yes, its still hot.

Today was amazing, you could see God everywhere. From doing construction to VBS to just hanging around the hotel, the vibe was just great.

We have divised an eating plan for mornings and nights:

Blue and Red teams eat  the first breakfast, Yellow and Green teams eat second.

Blue and Green teams eat dinner first, with Yellow and Red teams to follow.

Most of our meals have come from a Belizean Restaurant called The Jo Melin, and its delicious food with great diversity- just like Belize.

There were lots of kids at VBS, and they were having such a great time playing games, doing crafts, singing and dancing, and watching the puppet shoes we put on. Despite the heat, all of us had a great time running around outside teaching the kids games and playing too. It was a terrific way to learn about the kids and bond with them. They must have had a good time because they all said that they were coming back tommorow and bringing friends!

The construction went really well too, we got all the walls of the church smoothed down, the tape peeled off the ceiling, the cement chisled off, the floors swept, and the walls plastered. We all worked extra hard, and we all sweat alot. At every break we could get, you could find everyone standing or sitting by the few fans we had available, or by the water machine cooling off.

In the end, we all realized that we just need to slow down and look at how incredible this trip has been, and will be. God shows up in the strangest of places, even when you're not looking for Him.

  4. Hey Team Belize. We have a special request from the state-side parents and grandparents; would it be possible to update the blog like twice a day?
Some of our kids have never been away from home--let alone this far away. So perhaps some more information/stories of what they are doing would help some of us wondering parents and supporters feel like we are more a part of the great things that are happening in Belize.
We miss you and are praying for you!

  6. I just heard from Belize trip leader, Marc Otto. He said, "There is very little down time. And the computer is not where we work all day but everything has been awesome! No complaints from anyone on the trip. And everyone is working extremely hard. It's very hot and we're taking everyone to the beach soon! So far it's been an absolutely perfect trip! There was suppose to be a blog update last night but the Internet connection failed. The Blog actually was completed...just not able to send. Everyone has been so tired after devotionals. I'll make sure we will update tonight and every evening. Be patient. We have 49 people plus 4 from CoCal Gracias and the updates are at the end of each day after the leaders' meeting late at night. It's going awesome but we have extremely little down time when we are near the computer. We will try to hit an Internet Cafe tonight, but if my leaders are tired I'll have them rest. Please tell everyone that there's a beautiful spirit of unity and teamwork amidst the team and that no one is sick or even unhappy!"

    Thanks Marc!
